lost in the bushes...

I am very proud of Taylor and two of her friends, Grace and Maya, for having such caring and nurturing souls. Yesterday, they were playing outside and they love playing in our backyard, where we live backed against a hill. Taylor and a few of her friends have made a little clubhouse up on the hill and they always play up there. They were playing and heard a very faint 'meow' behind some shrubs. They checked behind the shrubs and found a little kitty, that looked like he had been born within the last few days. His eyes were still shut, and he couldn't really walk. The mommy cat was no where to be found, and the girls felt if the kitty stayed out there alone, he would die. They brought him down to the house, and then over to Grace & Maya's house for a bit, where Noriane called a few animal shelters to see if they would take him. We couldn't find anyone to take him that late, since it was already after 5:00 p.m. so I took the girls to Petco and bought a little bottle and some kitty formula and we thought if we took care of him overnight that we could find somewhere that could take care of him today. I never thought taking care of a newborn kitty would be more work than a baby. I slept downstairs on the couch so I could sleep right next to the little bed we made for him, and could hear him when he needed to eat. I woke up every 2-3 hours to feed him a few drops of his formula. Alot of work, but very very cute.
I think this was a great experience for these girls, who have so much caring for all these little animals they seem to keep finding. Oh.. one more thing.... I forgot to say what they named him..... 'Jasper' (of course --- since he is a black kitty, and these little girls take after their Moms, they are diehard vampire fans also)

Happy Birthday Derek...

Today is my nephew, Derek's birthday. He turned 10 years old. He is the smartest, sweetest boy and I just love him to pieces. He lives in Virginia, so I only get to see him once a year. Derek --- we love you and can't wait to see you in July! Have the best birthday ever ---- hitting double digits is a big deal!

we love you dad...

April 12, 1943 ----

I think about my dad every day, but today is his birthday. Ironically enough, Easter also fell on April 12th this year. Thinking about the true meaning of Easter, the celebration of the Resurrection of Christ, and the remembrance of the Atonement that He suffered for us that allows us all the promise of resurrection also. That means so much to me because I KNOW I will see my dad and be able to embrace him again. I LOVE YOU DAD and I miss you each and every day.

Happy Easter...

school wax museum...

Today Taylor's school held a Wax Museum that the 4th graders participate in each year in their study of Utah History. They each choose a person who is or was famous in Utah, and write a research paper, oral report, then they get to participate in the wax museum. It was so cool to see all the 4th graders dress up as the person they chose, and I can't believe for 45 minutes they all stayed still like they were statues.

Taylor was Georgie White (Not being from Utah, I had no idea who she was before she did this project)
We also took a few pictures of Taylor's good friends -- Grace, Tiani, Maya, Macy and Abby --- they all looked so cute..
